In this story by the famous English writer Somerset Maugham, we get to know about a gentleman who was on a voyage on a ship and met an extraordinary man – Mr Kellada. For his temper, his constant chattering, and many other annoying factors, he was named Mr Know-All. During another argument - about pearls, Mr Kelado was sure that his opponent's wife's necklace was made of real pearls, but from her reaction, he knew he shouldn't reveal it. Mr Kilado was not a man who could easily admit defeat, he was used to be always right, to be always on top. But despite all his internal struggles, he kept the lady's secret. Sometimes people have to step over themselves to help others. This requires some effort and perseverance.
Despite the small size of the story, which can be read in a couple of minutes, Maugham has painted a complete and beautiful picture. It's amazing how perfectly the author has described the entourage and given a full picture of the characters in the story. It is a pleasure to read this story. Maugham is a true master of the short story.
