The protagonist of this story is a writer for television, but one who is not getting any work. He has a son in high school who lives with the writer's ex-wife; he seldom sees him. But the writer comes up with a plan. The son will have a pitch meeting with television producers, who will think that the kid is a new young talent. The writer will actually write the scripts, of course. In return, the son will get some of the money plus his father will ghost-write an essay for his son for a class. The television deal goes perfectly - the essay does not. Serious problems arise.
