On Thin Ice

I was at the top of my game when I let myself be betrayed. I say “let myself” because everyone warned me about my former partner. They all said he was not to be trusted. Two years later he is part of the most beloved couple on ice while I sit on the sidelines, seeking the right partner.

I am not sure what will make the right partner, but I know it’s not the cocky jerk skating my way now.

Ice dancing is what we call it. I might laugh along with my teammates on the Harmony Hollow Howlers, but I know the figure skaters show up on ice. Mostly I know because I have been a little obsessed with Danica Lamb since I saw her at the finals two years ago. Hearing she needs a new partner, I decided why not give it a shot?

Danica might not take me seriously off the ice but on the ice? I will skate circles around her, even if I just want her dizzy enough to give me a real shot at being her partner off the ice.
