Phosphorus (P) is growth limiting nutrient and deficient in most soils of the world. Research was conducted on five soil series of Pakistan differing in soil properties. Phosphorus adsorption isotherms were developed and fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich equations to describe P adsorption process. The study suggests that the oxides of iron and aluminum are the main adsorbent at low P concentration, normally applied in agricultural soils and soil CaCO3 play role at high P level. This book is recommended for soil science community working on P chemistry.

Cadmium is a highly toxic heavy metal for both plants and animals. The presence of cadmium in soil is of great concern regarding its entry into food chain. Wheat is a staple food in many parts of the world including Pakistan. It accumulates more Cd as compared to other cereal crops. A number of approaches are being used to minimize Cd accumulation in edible plant parts. Proper plant nutrition is one of the good strategies to minimize damaging effects of cadmium on plants and to decrease its accumulation in edible plant parts. A pot experiment was conducted on wheat in a soil contaminated with Cd @ 30 mg kg-1. Zinc was applied using two different application methods i.e., soil applications (Zn @ 15 & 30 mg kg-1) and foliar applications (0.3 & 0.6% ZnSO4 solution) compared to control (without Zn but Cd). Results indicated that foliar application of 0.3% ZnSO4 solution increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes (catalase, ascorbat peroxidase and guiacol peroxidase) and effectively decreased grain-Cd concentration. Zinc application through both the methods increased the shoot and grain Zn, P and K concentrations as compared to control.

Diabetes mellitus is probably the single most important metabolic disease and is widely recognized as one of the leading causes of death and disability in the different countries of the World. It affects every cell in the body and the essential biochemical processes that go on there. Even in normal individuals, significant weight gain results in carbohydrate intolerance, higher insulin levels and insulin insensitivity in the fat and muscle tissues. Weight loss can correct all of these abnormalities in many instances and significantly improves the metabolic disturbance of diabetes in most of cases. Diabetes is characterized by three well-known syndromes, polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyphagia (excessive hunger) and polyuria (excessive urination). Although different medicines are available for treatment of all kinds of diabetes including its complications, however, trend local medicines is increasing day by day due to its non or very less sides effects us well as due to low cost.

Faisalabad is known as a city of textile not only in Pakistan but also all over the world. Several textile processing units are in operation in the surroundings of the city, which are releasing a substantial amount of azo dyes into the wastewater streams in the surroundings of these textile units. The discharge of these contaminants is considered to be a potential threat to the environment because of their hazardous nature. Thus, this study was undertaken to isolate the bacteria possessing high potential to degrade azo dyes from the wastewater discharged by the textile units. A total of 150 bacterial strains were isolated from these wastewater samples using minimal salt medium spiked with Reactive Blue ZBLN azo dye. Results revealed that some bacterial strains were able to decolorize 8 different dyes almost within 6 hours. Thus, the isolated bacterial strains have the potential to remove a variety of dyes from the liquid culture, which could be used to develop a biotreatment strategy for cleanup of the industrial wastewater prior to their discharge into wastewater streams of the surrounding area.

Rice (oryza sativa L) is a principal source of food for more than half of the world population, especially in South and Southeast Asia and Latin America. Elsewhere, it represents a high value commodity crop. Composting offers the most sensible and economic way to avoid wasting useful natural resources, which create environmental problems, and at the same time it produces a high quality and inexpensive soil amendment. Recycling of organic wastes involves the return of the essential elements to soils that are taken up by plants and find their way into animal, domestic and industrial products. This recycled organic waste may be good supplement of chemical fertilizer. The compost is widely used as soil amendment to improve soil structure. In Pakistan composting could be very useful because, the waste disposal problem is becoming serious day by day.

Lignocellulosic biomass is abundant and a renewable resource for the production of biofuel (bioethanol) by using fermentative organisms (Sacchromyces cervesiae & Fusarium oxysporum). The conversion of biomass into maximum yield of glucose is an important step for the bioethanol production but it requires optimum dilute acid treatment. Bio-Ethanol production include various steps like; acid hydrolysis, enzymatic hydrolysis, recovery of glucose and fermentation. The tremendous amounts of cellulose are available as municipal and vegetable wastes that can be used for the production of ethanol. Thus, there is great interest in the use of cellulosic biomass as a renewable source of energy through breakdown of sugars that further can be converted to liquid fuel through fermentation process.I am looking forward to work in a professional and competitive environment where I can put my best efforts, hard work and skills to bring up the organization and myself too. I am also a life long learner and am determined to become a knowledge professional for keeping abreast with changing technology.

  • Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks Muhammad Imran
    ISBN: 9783845429465
    Год издания: 2011
    Издательство: LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing
    Язык: Английский
Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks (WSANs) are gaining growing interest because of their suitability for mission-critical applications that require autonomous and intelligent interaction with the environment. Hazardous application environments make actors susceptible to physical damage. Failure of a critical (i.e. cut-vertex) actor partitions the inter-actor network into disjointed segments while leaving a coverage hole. Maintaining inter-actor connectivity and coverage is extremely crucial in most applications of WSANs where actors have to quickly plan an optimal coordinated response to detected events. This book presents a series of localized novel algorithms that pursue controlled movement of existing (internal) actors to restore the lost connectivity while minimizing the impact on coverage. The performance of proposed approaches is analyzed and validated through extensive simulations. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of proposed approaches that outperform the best contemporary schemes found in literature. This book should be useful for university students, researchers, faculty members, application designers and people from industry.

    Год издания: 2010
    Издательство: LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing
    Язык: Английский
Modern DSP circuits, such as FIR, DFT, DCT, Image Processing involve multiplications of data with several constants (MCM).Our focus is to reduce number of adders/ subtractors, delays and adder depth by searching common subexpression in coefficients of MIMO Multiplier less FIR System. Different Tie Breakers i.e.minimum adder depth (for reducing power consumption), minimum Delays (for reducing Area) and minimum shift were introduced which reduces the complexity of the system.Overlapping Digit Pattern was integrated in MCM. The algorithm is general and is capable to handle arbitrary number of inputs, constants and outputs and is based on iterative pairwise matching heuristics.
