Now they have woken, the Silurians are appalled to find 'their' planet populated by upstart apes. The Doctor hopes to negotiate a peace deal, but there are those on both sides who cannot bear the thought of humans and Silurians living together. As UNIT soldiers enter the cave systems, and the Silurians unleash a deadly plague that could wipe out the human race, the battle for planet Earth begins.

UNIT, Jo Grant and DOCTOR WHO in tow, arrive on the scene to investigate, but strangely reluctant to assist their enquiries is Dr Stevens, director of the local refinery Panorama Chemicals.

Are they in time to destroy the mysterious power which threatens them all before the whole village, and even the world, is wiped out by a deadly swarm of green maggots?

'The planet is ours. It always has been!' On Wenley Moor in Derbyshire, a nuclear energy research centre is suffering mysterious power losses and a series of staff breakdowns. Investigating on behalf of UNIT, Brigadier Lethbridge -Stewart calls the Doctor in to help, assisted by the scientist Liz Shaw. What the Doctor discovers is quite unexpected: the power losses are being caused by a group of intelligent, indigenous reptiles living in caves deep beneath the moor. These are the creatures who ruled Earth before Man, and they have lain dormant for centuries. Now awoken, they still believe Earth to be their planet. A power struggle amongst the Silurians threatens to overwhelm the Doctor's attempts to achieve peace between the reptiles and the humans. And when a deadly virus is released and spread throughout the country, the Doctor and Liz must work against the clock to save humanity... In an additional bonus interview, Caroline John, who also provides the linking narration for the story, recalls making Doctor Who and the Silurians for television.

The evil MASTER has stolen the Time Lords' file on the horrifying DOOMSDAY WEAPON with which, when he finds it, he can blast whole planets out of existence and make himself ruler of the Galaxy! The Time Lords direct DOCTOR WHO and Jo Grant in their TARDIS to a bleak planet in the year 2471 where they find colonists from Earth under threat from mysterious, savage, monster lizards with frightful claws! And hidden upon this planet is the DOOMSDAY WEAPON for which the MASTER is intently searching...

The TARDIS makes a hazardous return to 1960s Earth - materialising on a runway at Gatwick Airport! The Doctor and his friends realise that all is not well when Polly witnesses a murder, and then both she and Ben vanish. The authorities refuse to take the matter seriously - but when Polly reappears, why does she claim not to recognise her friends? Aided by the plucky Samantha Briggs, and helped and hindered by Inspector Crossland of Scotland Yard and the airport Commandant, the Doctor and Jamie piece together a number of clues.

A sequence of mysterious events seems to centre around Chameleon Tours, whose package holidays are designed to entice young people to foreign shores. Just how far-flung are the horizons they offer, and why are none of their passengers coming back? Who are the faceless ones, and what hideously deformed creatures are involved in the operations being conducted at the airport medical centre? The Doctor believes that there's a connection between Chameleon Tours and the odd behaviour of key airport personnel - but in seeking to prove his theory, and rescue Ben and Polly, he becomes embroiled in a plot to steal the identities of thousands of young people.
