Banditry in Islam: Case Studies in Morocco, Algeria and the Pakistan North West Frontier David M. Hart
ISBN: 0906559227 Год издания: 1987 Издательство: Middle East & North African Studies Press Limited Язык: Английский In this short monograph David M. Hart applies Eric Hobsbawm's allegedly worldwide model of social banditry to the Islamic world. Taking examples from Morocco, Algeria and Pakistan's North West Frontier, he concludes that the universality of Hobsbawm's formulations about social banditry rests on very thin foundations, although some of the traits of the social bandit syndrome were often present in the various careers dealt with. Yet "these are simply not enough to make them into Robin Hoods" (p. 61).
