The recognition of Sexual Minority Rights in Uganda is still very contentious. The sexual minority rights issue in Uganda is essentially a head on confrontation between culture, religion and human rights. The saying “we eat to live” is a clear testimony on how food is at the core of humanity and development. Realizing the right to food of the world’s population is thus an urgent obligation that may be unique from other human rights and freedoms given the importance of adequate food for organisation and prosperity of communities. Though rooted in international law and instruments, in Africa, the right to food and freedom from hunger has historically been transformed by external forces of slavery, colonialism, imperialism, neo-liberalism , apartheid, and conditioned economic policies, whose activities have often attempted to limit the enjoyment of this right. This book brings to fore the political realities and economic dynamics confronting the realization of the right to adequate food in a Sub-Saharan Africa milieu.

Apparent in the contemporary corruption discourse is the tendency to monsterthise the state when it comes to the corruption and accountability problematic. However the prominence of neo-liberal globalisation not only renders the state virtually impotent to pursue accountability, but also incredibly reconfigures corruption cartographies from a territorial to social trajectory. Any attempt to understand corruption using a state territorial matrix seems to be self defeating because the state is immensely intertwined with deterritorised social entities or groups that are subtlety difficult to hold accountable. With the prominence of transnational capital and the transnational estate, an exclusively territorialistic conception of corruption is rendered self defeating. The problematic that has gripped the Sub-Saharan African milieu and has perturbed philosophers, political scientists, economists, sociologists, and development partners, intellectually and Splanchnically , is the combined phenomenon of corruption, nepotism, embezzlement graft, abuse of office and cronyism. The right to food of millions of people in the world is being compromised by the profit making antics of corporations like Monsanto. Many scholars, elites and pastors are propelling the lie that Africa is poor because it is cursed. The fact that Africa is not coming out of ‘her'' poverty despite the billions pumped into the continent in terms of aid is luring many individuals to simplistically deduce that Africa''s poverty must be situated in a divine curse. The issues confronting ‘independent'' nation states in Sub-Saharan Africa include but not limited to: neo-colonialism, absolute poverty, gender injustice, war and civil strife, human rights and bad governance. This book argues that we can not thoroughly appreciate these challenges without a clear cognizance of the global paradigm shift from organized to disorganized capitalism.
