My mind was back on that little girl in my pen with me. On Sutera`s guileless expression just before I seized her. My thoughts turned to all those lives I`d taken over the years. Doing that made me a good Diabolic. Being a good Diabolic meant being a hideous person. If I was a person, then everything I was, everything I had become, was profane and warped and evil. I was either a perfectly acceptable Diabolic or an abomination of a human being.
