"La Vendetta", histoire d'un amour contrarie et tragique, est un peu une version "corse" de Romeo et Juliette. Cette nouvelle, publiee en 1830, presente la singularite d'etre un des premiers ecrits signe Balzac. Elle inaugure les "Scenes de la vie privee " de La Comedie humaine. Elle marque egalement l'interet que l'ecrivain accorde aux liens familiaux et aux unions ratees. Le role de l'amour paternel, toujours present dans son oeuvre, et qu'il exploite ici avec beaucoup de brio, sert de revelateur pour devoiler les non-dits de la nature humaine.
