Dorian looks at the portrait and wishes that the portrait might grow old while he remains forever young. Throughout the story, Dorian spends his life pursuing fresh experiences and new sensations. Dorian's looks do not change, however; only the portrait, secretly hidden in the attic of his residence, with which he has grown increasingly obsessed.
