Aquatic environments get contaminated with pesticide and heavy metal residues that causes water pollution. The excessive use of pesticides in agriculture has sparkled the interest of scientists in investigating the harmful effects of these compounds. The present study evaluates the pesticides Atrazine and Roundup (glyphosate) on biochemical and molecular aspects of Biomphalaria alexandrina snails, also to evaluate the pesticides Malathion and Deltamethrin on biological and biochemical parameters of Helisoma duryi snails.also the effect of aluminum chloride (AlCl3), and zinc sulphate (ZnSO4)was studied individually or in combination with each other on the biochemical and histological parameters of the pulmonate snail Biomphalaria alexandrina. P. clarkii and E. massavensis contamination with heavy metals and its relationship to public health have gained considerable concern in the last few years, so the concentrations of some heavy metals in P. clarkii and E. massavensis collected from a chosen area were determined. In conclusion The present study suggests that the above invertebrate animals can be used as bioindicators of water pollution. -

Snail Control
ISBN: 9783659429873 Год издания: 2013 Издательство: LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Язык: Английский Аннотация
The present work evaluates the molluscicidal activities of certain plant extracts (water suspension, Cold water, Boiled water, methanol, ethanol, acetone and chloroform extract). The data obtained from preliminary screening tests conducted on 10 plant species belonging to 10 different families. The effect of low concentrations of different synthetic and natural mollusciciding agents may introduce to fresh water environment on reproduction and biochemical aspects of Biomphalaria alexandrina was studied. Different mollusciciding agents (copper sulphate, Bayluscide, Uccmaluscide, Agave franzosinii, Agave filifera & Agava attenuate). The present study was planned to assess the susceptibility of some naturally associated snails to the molluscicidal activity of monoterpenes in order to evaluate the possibility of applying both chemical and biological methods to control Bulinus truncatus populations. The molluscicidal effect of three monoterpenes (Eugenol, Llinalool and Thymol ) against freshwater snails and the impact of two concentrations of thymol on some enzymatic activity of five snail species naturally associated with Bulinus truncatus. -

Both fresh and marine edible crustaceans Procambarus clarkii and Erugosquilla massavensis, respectively, are now important components of our local aquatic fauna in Egypt that have a small yet growing economic importance in our markets. So, the purpose of the present work was, therefore, to assess the protein, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals, vitamins, protein electrophoresis and dendrogram analysis of their extracts for the first time in Egypt which may be in the future play an important role in some pharmaceutical industries and may be uses as a specific health foods (functional supplement). Also P. clarkii and E.massavensis contamination with heavy metals and its relationship to public health have gained considerable concern in the last few years, so the concentrations of some heavy metals in P. clarkii and E.massavensis collected from a chosen area were determined. -
