The Clock Watcher

Joe Richardson met his future wife, Ursula, in the ruins of post-war Germany near Munchengladbach. Ursula brought with her to England many German clocks of various sizes, from small table clocks to huge floor-standing cuckoo clocks, the ringing of which even woke up neighbors in nearby houses. Gradually, Joe notices that Ursula is psychologically and even physically dependent on the condition of the watch and its proper operation. And from time to time a master from Germany comes to check them, whom Joe cannot find.
