4 And suddenly I was blinded by an insight – I discovered the secret of their happy marriage. She doesn’t speak English and he doesn’t speak Spanish.

Do you know this feeling when you see a book and feel it will be great? I do. The first time it happened with the book «Dolores Clayborn» by S. King. But now not about this book. When I read the annotation of the book «Call the Midwife» I decided to put aside all books and read exactly this one.
What do we know about women, their health, life, and pregnancy in the period before the Second World War? I knew nothing. The contraception was not practiced. Children were born and born but the incomes didn’t change. The obstetrics had just appeared. Children were born and were growing up in dirty rooms. Everything was awful. But this book is not only about nasty things. There are a lot of funny stories. For instance, the story about Spanish woman and her English husband. They have 24 children and they are sincerely happy. Do you know why? She doesn’t know the English language, he doesn’t know the Spanish language.
At some point, I laughed with the main character but at some point, I was deeply worried about her patients.
The stories of the characters are fascinating, the historical information on the development of the obstetrics is curious.
I will read the next part of this book with great joy. This is what I wish for you…
