Что мне понравилось в этой книге - то, что Рамачандран не только пытается объяснить для Homo Stupidus как работает мозг, но как этот процесс делает человека человеком, в разных главах анализируя разные стороны человечности: язык и метафоры, эстетика и искусство, сознание и самосознание, представление о личности, свобода воли и т.д. Он, примерами, доказывает как, а также пытается логическим путем показать откуда, мы такие особенные, не похожие на "братьях наших меньших".

Any ape can reach for a banana, but only humans can reach for the stars.

От следующей цитаты дух захватывает в самом прямом смысле и дальнейшие слова становятся избыточными:

Especially awe inspiring is the fact that any single brain, including yours, is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of countless, far-flung stars billions of years ago.
