О премии

Премия Рассела - единственная в Австралии и одна из немногих в мире, литературная награда для авторов лучших юмористических произведений.

Премия знаменует собой давно назревшее признание этого жанра в Австралии и призвана способствовать развитию общественного интереса к юмористической литературе.

Награда была учреждена в 2015 году Государственной библиотекой Нового Южного Уэльса по завещанию Питера Вентворта Рассела (Peter Wentworth Russell), австралийского фермера и бизнесмена, известного своим чувством юмора, оставившего значительную сумму денег для финансирования премии.

Премия Рассела присуждается один раз в два года за работу, признанную лучшей юмористической книгой австралийского автора. В конкурсе участвуют книги, опубликованные за предыдущие два года. Произведение может быть написано в любом литературном жанре.

Первоначально формируется длинный список претендентов на получение премии. Затем объявляется шорт-лист, состоящий из шести финалистов.

Победитель выбирается один. Он получает премию в размере $10 000.

В 2021 году была введена вторая номинация «Юмор для молодежи» для работ, предназначенных для возрастной группы 5–12 лет.

Refusing to give up (or have to pay for his relocation fee), Toby's attempts to get fired grow more and more extreme, and he finds himself being propelled higher and higher through the ranks of bureaucracy.
