Литературная премия имени Сидни Тейлор - награда для авторов лучших детских книг о жизни евреев.

Премия основана в 1968 году Ассоциацией еврейских библиотек (Association of Jewish Libraries). Изначально награда носила имя Ширли Кравиц, но в 1978 году была переименована в честь Сидни Тейлор (1904 – 1978), писательницы, подарившей миру серию книг «Обыкновенная семья» (All-of-a-Kind Family). Это были одни из первых детских произведений, в которых главными действующими лицами были евреи, а книги при этом были интересны читателям любого происхождения.

Первоначально премия вручалась без номинаций. Затем они постепенно стали появляться.

В каждой категории ежегодно объявляется один победитель, который получает золотую медаль, а также могут быть объявлены несколько серебряных медалистов. В дополнение к лауреатам медалей объявляется список из 10-20 достойных упоминания детских книг о жизни евреев.

Жюри премии имени Сидни Тейлор состоит из волонтёров Ассоциации еврейских библиотек. Книги оцениваются по нескольким критериям, один из основных – это литературная ценность. Книги также должны соответствовать возрасту, основываться на подлинных фактах, а еврейская культурная и религиозная составляющая должна быть позитивной и аутентичной. Номинироваться может только первая публикация книги, изданная за последний год. В качестве номинантов допускаются книжки-картинки, научно-познавательная, художественная литература и стихи.

В 1971, 1872, 1974 и 2005 годах премия не вручалась.

As tensions escalate in the Jewish community of Beacon with incidents of vandalism and a swastika carved into new concrete poured near the synagogue, so does the tension grow between Aviva and Kayla and the girls at their school, and so do the actions of the dybbuk grow worse.

Could real harm be coming Aviva's way? And is it somehow related to the "accident" that took her father years ago?
