О премии

Книжная премия имени Хелен Бернштейн за выдающиеся достижения в области журналистики (Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism) – ежегодная литературная награда, присуждаемая Нью-Йоркской публичной библиотекой самым ярким публицистическим книгам, написанным в рамках журналистских расследований. Эта премия для «журналиста, чья работа привлекла внимание общественности к важным вопросам».

Премия была основана в 1987 году в память о журналистке Хелен Бернштейн.
Каждый год финалисты премии отбираются Комитетом по обзору библиотек, состоящим из девяти человек. Победители определяются отдельным отборочным комитетом.
Лауреаты премии получают денежную награду в размере 15 000 долларов.

Публичная библиотека Нью-Йорка после долгих размышлений решила не называть победителя премии Бернштейн 2021 года, но пять авторов-финалистов за их важные книги на критические темы, связанные с общественным благом, называет и приветствует!
