Премия National Cash Register за нон-фикшн (NCR Book Award) - была организована в 1987 году NCR (National Cash Register) и сразу же стала главной литературной наградой в Великобритании за нон-фикшн.

В 1997 году после скандала (выяснилось, что судьи использовали «профессиональных читателей», резюме и рецензии на книги вместо того, чтобы читать весь список работ самим) премия была закрыта.

В 1999 году была организована Премия Сэмюэла Джонсона (Samuel Johnson Prize), ставшая в некотором смысле преемницей дискредитировавшей себя Премии NCR.
