О премии

Премия «Юные Перья» - английская литературная награда, присуждаемая за лучшую историческую прозу года, созданную взрослыми авторами для юных читателей.

Награда была учреждена Исторической ассоциацией в 2009 году и вручается ежегодно.

Цель премии: «признание хорошего написания исторической прозы», популяризация истории и осознание ее. Конкурс проводится как для того, чтобы отметить хорошие исторические произведения для детей и молодежи, так и для того, чтобы побудить молодежь читать эти книги для удовольствия и тем самым пробудить или углубить их интерес к истории и понимание того, что такое жизнь и что происходило в разные периоды прошлого.

Чтобы обеспечить «читабельность» представленных книг, они рассылаются в ряд школ, которые вызвались предложить своим ученикам выступить в качестве рецензентов.

В настоящее время премия имеет три номинации:
Книги для детей 7-11 лет;
Книги для детей 11-13 лет;
Книги для детей 14 лет и старше.

Шорт-листы для каждой из номинаций составляются юными читателями, оставившими свои отзывы о книгах, изданных в течение последнего календарного года. Помощь детям оказывают сотрудники библиотек.

Окончательное решение о победителях принимает взрослое жюри, заинтересованное в исторической точности и представлении, а также в увлекательном повествовании и силе вымышленного представления истории.
