Впервые он увидел свет в 1957 году и стал первым периодическим изданием, посвященным Катастрофе европейского еврейства. С тех пор сборник выпускается параллельно на двух языках, иврите и английском ("Yad Vashem Studies"). На его страницах публикуются труды как ведущих специалистов, так и начинающих исследователей из Израиля и других стран, материалы научных дискуссий и рецензии на новые книги, связанные с Холокостом.
В этом году издательство впервые предприняло выпуск сборника статей "Яд Вашем. Исследования" на русском языке.
В данный сборник (выпуск № 2) вошли десять статей, посвященные глобальным вопросам, связанным с темой Холокоста, а также статьи, затрагивающие различные аспекты Катастрофы на территории СССР.
Авторы сборника - ведущие исследователи в данной области, и некоторые из представленных здесь статей стали классикой историографии Катастрофы. Шесть из них были ранее опубликованы в трудах "Яд Вашем. Исследования" на иврите и английском, четыре - в ряде других изданий Национального мемориала Катастрофы и героизма. In 1972 the Hamburg State Court acquitted Walter Becker, the German chief of police in the Polish city of Starachowice, of war crimes committed against Jews. Thirty years before, Becker had been responsible for liquidating the nearby Jewish ghetto, sending nearly 4,000 Jews to their deaths at Treblinka and 1,600 to slave-labor factories. The shocking acquittal, delivered despite the incriminating eyewitness testimony of survivors, drives this author’s inquiry.
