Сохранность хорошая. «Тощий Мемед» — это роман о «благородном разбойнике» — так называемом «эшкия», и даже не столько об одном конкретном разбойнике, сколько о своеобразной форме вооруженной крестьянской борьбы, «эшкиячылык», т.е. «движение разбойников», широко распространенной с давних пор в Турции. Здесь слово «разбойник» следует понимать как в обычном, привычном его значении, так и в смысле «бунтовщик». «Эшкия» называли в Турции всякого, кто, совершив какой-либо уголовно наказуемый проступок, уходил в горы с оружием в руках и скрывался от преследования.
