Armastatud inglise kirjaniku ja nobelisti Doris Lessingi (1919–2013) Aafrika-lood ilmusid esmakordselt 1951. aastal kogumikus „This Was the Old Chief’s Country“ ja kolm neist lugudest jõudis Loomingu Raamatukogu esimeses aastakäigus pealkirja all „Imerohi ei ole müüdav“ ka eesti lugejateni. Lugude aines pärineb peamiselt Lessingi lapsepõlvest, millest suurema osa veetis ta vanemate farmis Rodeesias, ja samuti tema nooruseaastatest. Doris Lessing oli 30-aastane, kui ta Londonisse elama asus, kuid Aafrika jäi nii tema südames kui ka loomingus alati väga olulisele kohale. Z pozoru nie powiązane ze sobą historie koncentrują się wokół relacji wewnątrz społeczności białych mieszkańców południa Afryki i ich stosunku do Czarnych w połowie lat pięćdziesiątych XX wieku.
