It is the end of August and the long summer holidays are drawing to a close. Seventeen-year-old Leonard is on a camping holiday with his family in the South of France. Awkward and ill at ease, he is an outsider who creeps away from parties unnoticed after a couple of drinks.

Ainsi commence ce court et intense roman qui nous raconte la dernière journée que passe Léonard, 17 ans, dans un camping des Landes écrasé de soleil. Cet acte irréparable, il ne se l’explique pas lui-même. Rester immobile, est-ce pareil que tuer ? Dans la panique, il enterre le corps sur la plage. Et c’est le lendemain, alors qu’il s’attend chaque instant à être découvert, qu’il rencontre une fille.
Ce roman est l’histoire d’un adolescent étranger au monde qui l’entoure, un adolescent qui ne sait pas jouer le jeu, celui de la séduction, de la fête, des vacances, et qui s’oppose, passivement mais de toutes ses forces, à cette injonction au bonheur que déversent les haut-parleurs du camping.
