An old, rusty car rolls away from the junkyard and crashes into a tree in front of Alexander's house. The left headlight gets broken but that's okay because Alexander has a light bulb in his room. He drives away and has exciting adventures, including getting chased by a ferocious dog, making friends with a woodpecker who is sad because his forest has been clearcut, and driving to Africa and back.
