The Lost Symbol will once again feature Dan Brown’s unforgettable protagonist, Robert Langdon.
The book is a brilliant and compelling thriller. Dan Brown’s prodigious talent for storytelling, infused with history, codes and intrigue, is on full display in this new book.
"This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey," said Brown. "Weaving five years of research into the story's twelve-hour timeframe was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon’s life clearly moves a lot faster than mine."

Science and Poetry is a much needed and clear investigation of why and how science has so powerfully shaped the way we understand ourselves, our behavior towards others and our place in the world.
Why are poetry and science at odds? Mary Midgley, well-known moral philosopher, explores this and other compelling questions in Science and Poetry. She explores key questions such as the hunt for a disembodied consciousness and why we are obsessed with it, why "memes" hold such a grip on contemporary culture, and what debates over the Gaia hypothesis mean for the state of contemporary science.
With her customary sharp insight and clear prose, renowned moral philosopher Mary Midgley shows how the roots of the problem lie in the fragmented atom-like picture of science we inherited from the 17th century. Drawing on examples from the Gaia hypothesis to the recent debate over memes, Mary Midgley spells out the unfortunate legacy of this situation: misguided attempts to reduce mind to body, political and moral individualism, and a needless backlash against science.
With its forceful argument that the arts and poetry can help us reconcile some of theseproblems, Science and Poetry is essential reading for all those interested in philosophy and the relation between science and the arts.

Religion poisons things because it is number one to itself. In order to keep the control/power and the capital gains to itself.
And because of its self interest it promotes division among humans telling them that those following its way/rules are the "right ones" or
righteous ones so they are excused if they cause pain and death to "infidels" (read non-customers non-serfs) while telling they own faithful (wishful thinking customers as those of "The Secret") that they are the center of the Universe.

How did Nicholas II, Russia's last Tsar, meet his death? Shot point blank in a bungled execution by radical Bolsheviks in the Urals, Nicholas and his family disappeared from history in the Soviet era. But in the 1970s, a local geologist and a crime fiction writer discovered the location of their clandestine mass grave, and secretly removed three skulls, before reburying them, afraid of the consequences of their find.
Stories include the contention that the Tsar's killing was a Jewish plot, in which Nicholas's severed head was taken to Moscow as proof of his death; tales of would-be survivors of the execution, self-confessed children of the Tsar claiming their trueidentity; and accounts of miracles performed by Nicholas, who was made a saint by the Russian church in 2000. Not least among these alternative narratives is the romanticization of the Romanovs, epitomized by the numerous photographs of the family released from the Russian archives.
